Panama Beach City, Florida is considered to be the “Wreck Capital of the South,” and if diving is you’re hobby, you’ll soon see why. Panama City Beach, Florida features a wide range of historic wrecks, including a 441-foot WWII liberty ship, a 220-foot tug, a 160-foot coastal freighter, and the most famous wreck in the Gulf, the 465-foot Empire Mica. The Gulf near Panama City Beach, Florida also features an abundance of natural and artificial reefs that are ripe for exploring. Diving is best in Panama City Beach from about April to September. Several full-service dive shops offer customized packages for boat charters. Not a diver? Snorkeling in Panama City Beach is also great, and several of the area dive shop also rent snorkeling gear.
